Learning about
portion size is more important today than ever. When it
comes to healthy eating and how much you eat, portion sizes
help us to know if we are eating too much or not enough.
Portion sizes have been spiraling out of control for several
years in the supermarkets and the fast food industry. Larger
boxes and bottles lead people to believe they are still
eating and drinking the same, when In fact they are taking
in hundreds more calorie and not even realizing it.
Reading the label on the food we eat can go a long way to
helping us understand portion sizes. Not all foods are equal
when it comes to portion sizes. One company may have a portion
of beans completely different than another; this can depend
a lot on what else is added to the beans. Reading labels
will give you much better understand the calories you are
eating based on the portion. I know it sound complex, but,
most of us regularly eat the same groups of foods and learning
how much we are really eating will come to be routine in
a short time.
Portions sizes
are really not that hard to understand and with a little
time and effort you can be expert. Get a small notebook
and right down the portion sizes and calories of the food
you eat. As time goes on you will better understand that
being healthy is not only about what you eat, but how much
you eat.
